THE RETURN OF THE BURN!

Yes, the Bulimba Burn is BAAAACK! It’s been 3 long years since around 1000 people ran, panted, crawled and hobbled up Oxford Street in Bulimba.

So much has changed in those years. The world is a very different place - but the Bulimba Burn is still what it was – 333 metres of pure agony up Oxford Street in Bulimba to the finish line at the school gates on Wentworth Parade.

In 2021 all the old favourites are back – the Doggy Burn, Ladies’ Burn, Mens’ Burn, All Age Burn, School Grade Burns and lots lots more. So, the Bulimba Burn is back and it’s bigger than ever!

What is the Bulimba Burn?

It’s probably the funnest and steepest fun run in the Southern Hemisphere (Note – we said ‘probably’ and we haven’t bothered to look it up). Starting at the Oxford Street roundabout, the Burn takes you up the Oxford Street hill adjacent to Bulimba State School, around the corner and all the way up to the school gates at the top. The course is exactly 333 meters – that’s halfway to 666 metres. The Bulimba Burn is halfway to hell!

The 2021 Pyjama Burn, supporting The Pyjama Foundation

This year’s flagship event is The Pyjama Burn – organised by the Bulimba State School Student Council. August 2021 is Pyjama Month, raising funds for The Pyjama Foundation which assists kids in foster care in Queensland. We’ve teamed up with the Pyjama Foundation to raise some cash.

Check out The Pyjama Foundation here.

The 2021 Pyjama Burn will set a new (unofficial) world record for ‘the most people running up Oxford Street, Bulimba wearing their jim-jams’. The current record is 2 … me and Scott did it late at night in February 2021, just for fun. To become an unofficial world record breaker, simply bring along your pyjamas, slip them on at the start line and run up the hill. The Pyjama Burn will start at 10am and all finishers will receive a certificate congratulating them on becoming (unofficial) record holders.

To enter The Pyjama Burn, simply register here and then make a gold coin donation on the day.

How many races are there in the Bulimba Burn?

Lots and lots and lots. Basically, there’s something for everyone at the Bulimba Burn. There’ll be around 15 different ‘Burns’ between 8:30am and 10:30am. You can enter one Burn or as many Burns as your legs can handle.

See Burn Schedule here

When and where is the Bulimba Burn?

It’s on Sunday 17 October 2021 from 8am til 11am at the Bulimba State School Bottom Oval on Riding Road, Bulimba.

Where do the funds raised at the Burn go?

The funds raised go to the Bulimba State School P&C.

The gold coin donation for The Pyjama Burn will go to The Pyjama Foundation to assist kids in foster care.
